SanDisk Vaulter flash-based solid state disk

SanDisk had a new way for using solid-state memory (SSD) to get better performance of laptops at a lower cost.
The SanDisk Vaulter is an 8 GB to 16 GB flash-memory PCI Express module that would link directly to the motherboard of a laptop and hold only the computer’s operating system. In addition, the laptop would use a usual hard disk drive to store all programs and content, allowing for both the performance advantages of flash as well as the larger capacities of hard-disk drives.
“SanDisk Vaulter Disk consistently boosts user responsiveness by taking advantage of the best native characteristics of a flash-based module and a hard drive,” said Tavi Salomon, Vaulter product manager at SanDisk “It is the parallel operation of both Vaulter and the hard disk that provides an affordable solution for consumer PC users who will benefit from flash memory performance.“
